a film-class debate about whether sequels can match the original, dropped inside a sequel that matches the original. craven knows exactly what he's doing. sidney passes again. she's done the reading, she stops running upstairs, she turns and fights in that theater, a second-act final girl who learned from her trauma instead of forgetting it. cici alone in the sorority house i grade harshly: she had the phone, she had the warning, she still wandered toward the noise. four kills before campus even feels haunted. that opening, dying in a packed crowd while everyone cheers the fake screen, is the smartest cold open in the whole run.
