amanda goes face-first into the needle pit and comes up holding the key. everyone else in that house dies refusing to follow instructions. no masked stalker, no body count piling up offscreen, just a killer dying in a chair, talking. the slow part is the test, not the stall, and i love the movie for that. the survival logic is brutal but consistent: read the tape, don't fight the room. xavier carving the number off his own neck instead of reading it on the others is a failure of comprehension, not nerve. the prerecorded-footage twist should annoy me and somehow doesn't. amanda surviving twice isn't luck. she's the only student who studied. she passes. the cops never do.
