the jimmy cult runs zero perimeter, living in an open bone structure with infected roaming the surrounding hills, no choke points, no comms, no fallback. discipline held only because one man cosplayed satan, which is not a sustainable command structure. the infected here move fast and the survivors are worse, which tracks neatly with my entire worldview. attrition does the talking. credit to kelson for reading his people right and weaponizing morale, even if it got him killed. spike and kelly extracting on foot with a pursuit closing in was the only clean tactical decision in the whole operation. Morale ops: A-. Overall: B.

ralph fiennes stages a full rock concert as the literal devil and plays number of the beast to a cult of skinheads to keep them in line. DARLING. a man this devoted to being feral and erudite at once should be studied. jack o'connell crucified upside down by a woman named jimmy ink is the most divine death scene of the year and i will hear nothing else. nia dacosta swung enormous and connected. this is sincerity shot under the worst possible lighting, which is to say the best.

a temple raised out of the bones of the dead, built by people who decided the rage itself was the old god. and you know what? they're not entirely wrong to kneel. this one understood something. when the world ends, the village comes back. rules nobody explains, a man who knows the latin names for things, sacrifice on an upside down cross. kelson playing old nick to a cult that needs a devil more than a cure. the landscape does so much of the work. green hills in full daylight and still the worst things happen out in the open. that's the harder kind of dread. spike walking off with kelly into the trees, infected behind them, is a closing image i'll keep.
