someone built a wooden house with three eyeless knights carved into it and i want to LIVE there. then the film looks me dead in the eye and goes, actually this was a mafia snuff movie about how you people film horror instead of helping. i did not see it coming. the beach scene where everyone pulls out their phones instead of saving her, brutal little choice. a touch too in love with explaining itself, and i never quite shivered, but i'll forgive a movie that swings this hard at me. a glorious italian provocation, production design above its station.
