a shard of glass works its way out of her foot, every wet layer of it on screen. they bled five gallons for that final shootout and you can tell, the floor goes tacky, footprints smear, the red browns the way real blood browns. the tree branch through the gut is honest work, real prosthetic, real heft. matilda lutz earns every drop, the crew turned a clean girl into raw meat and sold the in-between. only knock, it's a little too pretty for me sometimes, all that desert gloss. but cauterizing the wound with a lighter and a beer can? christ. practical to the bone.
