Black Phillip carries. Wouldst thou like to live deliciously?

corn coming up black, a goat keeping watch at the treeline. that's not a curse. that's a notice. william drags his family off to the wood's edge and then acts shocked when the wood answers. you do not plant your faith on land already spoken for and expect to eat come autumn. thomasin spends the whole film blamed for what the forest already decided. by the end she stops apologizing and walks toward the deal on the table. good. the daylight scenes scared me worse than the night ones, that flat grey new england sky over the dead field. black phillip didn't lie to her. everyone else did. wouldst thou like to live deliciously. yes. obviously. she should've signed sooner.
