A man trapped in an endless sterile subway passageway sets out to find Exit 8. The rules of his quest are simple: do not overlook anything out of the ordinary. If you discover an anomaly, turn back immediately. If you don’t, carry on. Then leave from Exit 8. But even a single oversight will send him back to the beginning. Will he ever reach his goal and escape this infinite corridor?

boléro looping over those endless white subway tiles genuinely got under my skin more than any jumpscare could, i started checking the ceiling posters and the reflections like i was the one trapped down there. ninomiya doing the whole asthmatic panic thing is so physical it made my own chest tight, and the clacking heels lived in my head for a full day after. i went in wanting it to get NASTY and it never really does, it stays quiet and existential and a couple of the scarier beats kind of fumble the landing, but honestly the restraint is why i respect it. this is a video game adaptation that decided to be about a guy's actual insides instead of being loud and dumb, and i'm a sucker for a liminal space that means something. not going to rewatch it constantly but i thought about it walking to the train the next morning and hated every escalator
