two temple statues that aren't statues. that's the only stretch where i felt the old wrong-frequency dread. everything else is so clean it has no pulse. they hand these kids the best guns ever made and then just stand there aiming, frozen, while i'm yelling at the screen. ninomiya and matsuyama are real together at least. slick sci-fi isn't my register, the unease keeps getting buffed out by the budget. the grumpy one turns its head. one second of grain in a 4k machine.
