A possession film that just lets the whitewashed walls do the screaming. Mr. Jerzy Kawalerowicz drops light across that convent like a verdict and Miss Lucyna Winnicka never once overplays it. No gibbering, just gorgeous suffocation. Quietly one of the great ones.
