one candle, one rule: keep it lit, keep the connection open. i respect a film that builds dread out of a procedure people keep breaking on purpose. not found footage but everyone's got a phone up the whole time, and the ritual only matters because someone's recording it. that's the part that got me. the spirit isn't the threat, the upload is. that table scene with the kid is going to live in my head unexplained for a long while. sophie wilde does the 90 second possession with just her face and i believed every second. they should have blown the candle out way sooner.
