the whole thing hinges on her not believing, and that being the exact mechanism that dooms her. the magic only works on you if you let it in. genuinely the meanest version of "fearing is believing" and i was not ready. gena rowlands going full energetically cunty in that attic while john hurt says maybe five words and still out-acts everyone. yeah it drags in the middle, and yeah the racial stuff is doing Things i don't fully trust, but the brick dust circle reveal lives rent free in my head. i'd simply have believed in the hoodoo from day one and respected the house. rip kate hudson.
