a wig. crawling across the floor on its own hair. i don't know what's wrong with shimizu and i never want it fixed. this one trades the low dread of the first film for a constant rattle, louder, more elaborate, less of the stillness i love, and somehow i still couldn't breathe. that birth scene plays like a tape jamming in the deck. kayako's hair drops from the ceiling in nooses and the whole room goes wrong. rip to everyone who walked into that house. i would not have agreed to shoot a paranormal special there. the ending is morbid little art. open, cold, no escape.
