i walked in expecting torture and got a theology lecture that flays you alive. when one girl's whole revenge plot collapses into something so much bigger and sadder at the halfway mark, my stomach dropped. anna gives the bravest thing i've seen all year, she goes where most actresses simply won't. no hairdo to applaud, no camp, none of my usual fun. just relentless. mademoiselle leaning in to hear the secret and then putting the gun in her own mouth, the room went silent around me. i never want to see it again and i respect it completely. i would simply not have been kidnapped.
