a helicopter blade shaving the top off a zombie's skull, clean scalp peel, real latex. savini's first big job and he just shows up and delivers. a screwdriver in the ear, the gut-rip where they pull the stomach open and chew, you can see the labor in every yard of intestine. squibs popping heads like overripe fruit. yeah the zombies are blue, argento mixed that paint too cold, i don't care. it's built by hand and it holds up forty years on, while half the new stuff melts into pixels by the trailer. the mall stretch drags a hair for me, but romero earned it. this is the textbook. savini wrote it.
