I don't know about you, but I love when a house has some secret tunnels.

tess goes back down the tunnel for the man who left her to die. she keeps choosing wrong and keeps living anyway, which breaks every category i own, in the best way. this movie hands you a final girl, kills the structure out from under her, then dares you to root for the worst man alive to earn it. he doesn't. tess: A for instinct, F for going back. the Mother isn't a villain, she's the receipt for forty years of frank's tapes, and the film knows it. i caught the bottle-of-water bit before the door opened; she should have too. one of the rare ones that sets up the rules just to void them on purpose. loses a step in the daylight detroit detour, never the nerve.
