a serial killer with a blood phobia who scrubs his hands raw is genuinely the funniest and saddest character archetype and dacre montgomery PLAYS it. there's a bit where he types out a reddit comment and thinks twice about the punctuation and i felt that in my soul. the third act lost the thread for me a little, there's a fake ending that completely killed the momentum i was riding and i sat there like ok we're still going huh. but the lipstick knife. the way she shoves him into a puddle at the end. scream for people who've worked content moderation and never recovered

the scariest sound here is the moderation queue clicking to the next clip. no dread, no hiss, just a girl at a desk going numb in real time and the film knowing exactly what that does to you. the decapitation that loads too clean. real horror lives in compression artifacts and this knows it. i wanted more of that screen-glow rot and less of the slasher it turns into by the end, but the thing underneath is genuinely sick. the comments not taking the dead seriously was the part that actually got me.
