red cloth tied around the wrist, bowls of food left out, a lineage passing down through the women whether they want it or not. that part i felt in my bones. ba yan was owed, and noi tried to refuse the debt, and that's the whole rot of it. you don't get to convert your way out of an inheritance. the documentary patience is the trick, all that dry isan daylight lulling you, and then the factory where everyone's wearing someone else. nim doubting at the end gutted me. the family never got to dodge the bill. they only got to choose who'd pay it.
