chrystal folding her own bones into a pretzel in that cave. you can hear the calcium giving out, the contortion is real, just a body bending wrong in the dark, and i sat up off the couch for the first time all movie. the aging makeup is fine work too, faces sagging in real time, hands going to paper. problem is shyamalan keeps cutting away from the meat so these people can stand on a beach and EXPLAIN their feelings. every time the bodies start doing something nasty he'd rather talk about it. a great practical effect buried under twenty minutes of dialogue nobody asked for. lean on the table, bram says, and they half listened.
