a cult whose big party trick is a rope into the sky you tug-of-war for your own ascension? i yelped out loud. that double moon over camp arcadia is gorgeous production design on what was clearly no budget, and two boys wrote it, shot it, AND starred as the brothers, which is absurdly all-in. it goes slow, almost lost me when nothing comes down but the dread, and then the baseball just hovers in the air waiting for a hand and all was forgiven. not camp exactly, but sincere as a séance, and sincerity is the rarest effect in the building.
