a joy division needle drop over slow-mo schoolgirls and i already knew this house was going to wreck my whole night. real talk, emma booth as evelyn is the kind of performance that makes me furious nobody put her in five more movies. one minute she's coddling the dog, the next she's the scariest thing in perth. stephen curry plays john so charming you forget what he is until you can't. my one issue, and you saw it coming, is the standalone ending. ben young builds a sick little ecosystem in that bungalow and then just leaves. a prequel showing how evelyn got here is the missing piece, i can feel the gap. that escape with the chain, though. a nasty little aussie gem.
