that "mister police" note carved like a child's birthday card is the most i've ever loved a movie everyone told me to skip. yes, you can feel the 10-15% they never shot, scenes just evaporate, val kilmer is dubbed by a stranger, harry hole wakes up in the snow like it's a tuesday. but this was meant to be chapter one of a whole jo nesbo universe and nobody let it reach the point where it gets good. that's the real crime, a franchise strangled in the crib. fassbender as an alcoholic detective who solves nothing is lowkey an icon to me. the snowmen are framed like the killer is a gallery artist and i respect that. a beautiful disaster, robbed of the sequel that would've explained any of it.
