olga in the mirror room, her body folding the wrong way while suzy dances upstairs. one dancer feeds the other. that's reaping logic and i felt it in my teeth. berlin, the grey autumn of 1977, and the cold seeps in before anything wicked does. the mothers run the company the way my village ran the well, with rules nobody explains until you break one. the coven endures at the end. it gets what it was owed. i won't pretend that didn't warm me. yes it runs long and the politics outside the studio never quite take root. but the volk piece, the hooks, the red finale. peak eerie folk horror. these women kept the old ways, and the old ways kept them.
