While video chatting one night, six high school friends receive a Skype message from a classmate who killed herself exactly one year ago. At first they think it's a prank, but when the girl starts revealing the friends' darkest secrets, they realize they are dealing with something out of this world, something that wants them dead.

a cursor hovers over the reply box, types something cruel, deletes it, types again. that's the whole horror and they nailed it. no edit, no cut away, one unbroken session and the frame never lies about what blaire actually clicked. people call this a gimmick. it isn't. the lens here is a webcam that can't look away and a desktop that keeps a record of every message you wish you could unsend. third act loses the plot when the deaths get loud and silly, blender and curling iron stuff, pure scream-slasher noise. but the format is the realest thing about it. the laura barns reveal lands because it was always there in the timeline, waiting.
