the crooked man comes around the corner singing his little nursery rhyme and that was it, that was the end of my composure. bless this movie for the slow zoom on the armchair, that warning is the only reason i didn't fully leave my body when the old man turned around. the nun in the painting hallway, nope. patrick wilson singing elvis to calm everyone down genuinely calmed me too. 136 minutes is a long time to be this tense and i felt every one of them in my shoulders. being scared is the point and i was SO scared. six pauses, hood up like a shield, every light on. roommate is never picking the movie again.
