Teenagers Nancy, Quentin, Kris, Jesse and Dean are all neighborhood friends who begin having the same dream of a horribly disfigured man who wears a tattered sweater and a glove made of knives. The man terrorizes them in their dreams, and the only escape is to wake up. But when, one by one, they start dying violently, the friends realize that what happens in the dream world is real, and the only way to stay alive is to stay awake.

never blinking again, personally. the microsleep thing, where you nod off for half a second and freddy's already there, broke something in me. the wall stretching like skin over nancy's bed made me scream into a pillow. the falling-asleep-in-class cut got me too, one second she's in school, the next she's somewhere wrong, and i did NOT see it coming. it's not a pretty movie and his face is a lot, but that raspy voice, nope nope nope. thank you to whoever kept the swimming pool bit not too bloody, i could not have done bloody. six pauses, lights on. survived but barely.
