the bear trap room is the whole sell and they built every inch of it. gary tunnicliffe did this with latex and karo, real weight and drag on the body when arkin gets snagged. fishhooks at eye level, a floor of acid eating through the kid's sneakers, windows lined with razors so nobody walks out clean. critics whined it was too much. too much IS the point. rigging done by people who clearly loved the craft, and josh stewart selling the pain helps. not a perfect film, but i'd put the trap house in the hall of fame.
