santa feeds a half-naked woman into a woodchipper and the movie just rolls on like nothing happened. that's the whole pitch and it delivers. people treat this like the franchise's embarrassing nephew, but the original silent night deadly night run is six entries of pure garage-sale insanity, and THIS is the one that finally nails the tone. ho ho horror, it knows it's dumb. malcolm mcdowell as the sheriff is doing a bit nobody requested and i loved every hammy second, the man is feasting. is it deep? no. but part of me thinks the reimagining respects the source better than half of what spawned it.
