the belt sander to the face. that's the whole pitch and it delivers. adam green said no cgi and meant it, every kill is practical goop, and the head that gets ripped off with the tongue still flapping is exactly the thing that gets a franchise greenlit. and it did. people forget hatchet is the origin point of a four-film victor crowley run, kane hodder finally playing the guy under his own makeup. the swamp tour setup is thin, sure, but you're not here for plot, you're here for the shovel stomp. it's the foundation everyone built on later and it holds up better than the skippers think.
