word is they buried a puppet in the dirt with tubes running through it so it twitched on the day, covered in real viscera. THAT'S the difference, no clean-plate render, just a thing in the ground bleeding for the camera. first hour is nuns whispering in hallways and i nearly fell asleep in my own garage. but the back end earns its R, she rips the umbilical with her teeth, the branding iron sizzles, that final unbroken scream out into daylight, and the sound design sells every crunch. mohan kept it handmade and it shows. real screams, real blood. sat through the slow part for that ending and it paid off.
