david cronenberg shows up as a priest and nobody mentions it, which is the whole problem with how this movie gets dismissed. everyone calls it a seven rip-off and walks away, which is lazy. a killer harvesting limbs off 33-year-olds to build the body of christ for easter is its own deranged premise and it commits. lambert reunites with his highlander director here and mulcahy shoots it in pure rain and grain and shadow, the guy never met a wet alley he didn't love. is it derivative? sure. but it's the overlooked entry in the biblical-killer canon, skipped because it went to cable. the gore is genuinely nasty and the easter deadline gives it a clock seven didn't have. give it a retrial.
